The Rondo Awards are back for their 24th year! The nominations were just announced, and as faithful Scared Silly followers know, this humble blog has the distinction of always being the groomsman and never the groom when it comes to the Rondo Awards. Surely, we’re never going to win “Best Website” in a category that doesn’t separate straight horror from humorous horror, and hey, I’m totally fine with that. I’m just thrilled to get nominated!
This year, I have the great honor of being nominated twice. That’s only happened once before (back when I did a commentary track for the “Haunted House” episode of The Abbott & Costello Show).
In addition to the nomination for this blog, I’m particularly grateful that ROBOT MONSTER COMICS IN 3-D, the comics anthology book I edited and to which I contributed stories, has been nominated in the “Best Graphic Arts Presentation” category. With nearly 30 contributors from writers to artists, 3-D conversionists to graphic designers, as well as experts in business and printing, this really was the perfect example of getting by “with a little help from my friends.” I’m eternally grateful to all who contributed to the book.
The Rondo Awards are the brainchild of David Colton. They are named after Rondo Hatton (you can learn more about Rondo Hatton by watching the video clip below) and are awards given to those who in some way are keeping the love for and appreciation of classic horror alive. You can learn more details about the Rondo Awards by clicking here and view this year's ballot by clicking here.
Votes are due by midnight on Friday, May 1st, 2026. I encourage you to not just to vote in my categories, but to consider voting in all categories. All voting is done by email only so you must email your picks directly to David Colton at taraco@aol.com
Until then, here's a little video you can watch giving us all a little background on the life and career of Rondo Hatton - ENJOY:
