One thing that struck me about YFO was how much Karloff reminded me of Jeremy Irons.

TCM mentions that Wally Brown and Alan Carney in ZOB might have given Universal the idea to put Abbott and Costello in a monster movie.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336951618302437812.post-16204901612738064522010-09-29T18:28:22.151-04:002010-09-29T18:28:22.151-04:00Great anecdote, Steven! Lorre replies, "Yes, I think he was one of my students at Oxford." Too bad it was left on the cutting room floor..cheers!Steven Beasleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00241058290670206131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336951618302437812.post-47617490379357245842010-06-14T21:59:49.650-04:002010-06-14T21:59:49.650-04:00Hi Steven - thank you for letting us know about yo...Hi Steven - thank you for letting us know about your Kay Kyser projects - they sound great! :)Paul Castigliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00311677339576296386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336951618302437812.post-76777854226929020582010-06-14T12:51:48.158-04:002010-06-14T12:51:48.158-04:00Im glad you liked YOU'LL FIND OUT. I devote a whole chapter to it in my new book, KAY KYSER-THE OL' PROFESSOR OF SWING!AMERICA'S FORGOTTEN SUPERSTAR.There are some interesting anecdotes about the making of the film. It's the first full length (341 pages) book ever published on KK, and it's now available at www.kaykyserbook.com. We've also just released a companion LIVE KK CD called KAY KYSER-THE OL' PROFESSOR OF SWING! LIVE AIRCHECKS 1937-44. I hope you dont mind my mentioning it here. I was especially awe-struck when Willis O'Brien's dinosaur models from KING KONG showed up in a scene. I, too, find Kyser quite engaging and I agree that the seance scenes are genuinely creepy.
